Fern and Morrie on Tuesdays
A decade or more ago Mitch Albom, a well-known sportswriter, wrote the New York Times best-selling book, "Tuesdays with Morrie". The book was based on Morrie Schwartz, a Brandeis Professor, who had A.L.S. or Lou Gehrig's Disease. I had the privilege of working with Morrie during the last few years of his life. I helped him find momentary relief from his neurological pain through meditation. I began my practice with Morrie when he was walking with a walker, and we ended our practice together 4 hours before he died. When I asked Morrie how he was doing, he replied, "I am riding one breath into the next until I have no more breaths. He continues to be a guiding light in my work with others also in difficult situations with the power of meditation practice.
